
The mission of CSA:
is to uphold the values of the USCCB’s pastoral letter Empowered By the Spirit within the Columbia collegiate community by providing programming that promotes growth in the spiritual, emotional and academic lives of students through an intentional Catholic faith community that is rooted in the love of God and neighbor.
Ministry Team Executive Board
The Ministry Team is the principal undergraduate leadership team at the Newman Center that oversees all Campus Ministry programming. The Executive Board, comprised of seven student members, meet weekly to faciliate the overall vision of programs. For contact information for the Executive Board, click here. The Catholic Student Association Constitution governs the Executive Board and all programs that fall under CSA jurisdiction.
Ministry Team Programming Leaders
All student leaders at the Newman Center are considered part of the Ministry Team. The Program Coordinators develop all student programs at Newman. Below are some of the larger component programs as part of the Ministry Team:
Newman Volunteer Corps Board
The NVC Board is comprised of both student and resident parishioners who coordinate all programming for the Newman Volunteer Corps. More information on NVC can be found by clicking here.
CLC Core Teams
Catholic Life Communities (CLCs) are weekly faith sharing communities college students can interpret and discuss their life through the scope of their Catholic faith. The CLC Core Teams are groups of students who plan and coordinate each weekly meeting. There are Core Teams for each of the freshmen, sophomore, upperclassmen, and Greek CLCs. Awakenings Retreat Team
Awakenings is the fall student-led retreat at the Newman Center. A staff of approximately 30 students, led by the Awakenings Rector, plan and coordinate all aspects of the retreat. For more information on Awakenings and other retreat experiences at the Newman Center, click here.
