Football Parking

As a fundraiser to send students on Alternative Spring Break Trips, Campus Ministry and students attending an ASB trip sell the Newman Center parking lot for parking and tailgating during home games on Football Saturdays.  Thank you for supporting this cause!

Parking Lot Rules & Regulations

Please remember that you are parking in a church parking lot and that this is a family friendly lot!  Please help us in the following ways:

  • As driver or contact person for a group reservation, it is your responsibility to communicate these rules to your group.
  • Due to past incidents, NO student organizations (including fraternities or sororities) are allowed to tailgate in the Newman Center lot under any circumstance - regardless of if you will have alcohol or not.  If a student group arrives to tailgate without identifying themselves, they will be asked to leave without refund.  If you have questions concerning this policy, please email campus.ministry@newmancentercolumbia.org.
  • Clean up all trash and extinguish flames.  Dumpsters are located behind the Newman Center building, in between Newman and the Phi Kappa Theta – please do not use the Pi Beta Phi dumpsters.  You must clean up all trash prior to leaving the lot.
  • While plans are not finalized as of June 1, we will work with Sustain Mizzou to provide recycling for our tailgaters.  Bags will be provided.  Once full, we ask that your group brings your bag to the designated pick up area in the lot.
  • This year, we will have port-a-potties available for paying customers of our lot.
  • Rowdy and disrespectful behavior towards lot workers, Newman Center property, or other tailgaters will not be tolerated.  This includes loud music, music with explicit language, drinking games, damage to others’ property, and overcrowding.
  • Parking is allowed in any space that is not marked with chalk or barricades.  These spaces are for groups that have made reservations prior to the Saturday of the game.
  • You may not switch/trade out cars - your payment is for the car that enters, not just the space it occupies.
  • You may not leave and re-enter the lot.  If you leave, your spot will be sold and you must pay to re-enter.
  • Your payment guarantees your parking and the space directly behind the spot (2-3 feet).  You may NOT set up tables/chairs/tents/etc. in the drive area where cars need to get through.  Please take this into consideration as you are setting up your tailgate.  If your festivities are in the way of a car driving through the lot, you will be asked to move. You may purchase an entire parking spot specifically for tailgating or setting up a tent.
  • If you pay for one parking spot, you may not have 20 people tailgating in that one space.  Please be considerate and purchase the number of spots that you need to hold the people/tables/tents/grills that you will have.  Overly large groups will be asked to leave.  Estimate that 10 people will fit in a spot without a car while 5-6 may fit with a car.
  • FAILURE TO ADHERE TO RULES OR LOT WORKERS MAY RESULT IN BEING ASKED TO LEAVE.  If you are part of a group, failure to adhere to rules will lose you the opportunity to make reservations for future games.  If you do not follow the rules or the orders of the lot workers, you will be asked to leave.  If you do not leave when asked, we will contact the police.
  • Future reservations for groups of five spots (either for cars or tailgating spots) can be made on a first-come, first-served basis for those who register online.
  • Policies do not necessarily stay the same from year to year.  For policies that will affect future seasons, please consult this website by next June.

Reservations

We will be accepting parking reservations ONLINE ONLY!  If you have questions AFTER reading through this page, you may email Campus Ministry.  We thank you in advance!

Reservations will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.  To make reservations, you must have a minimum of 5 spaces reserved - this includes spaces for cars and also spaces for tents/general tailgating.  If you fill out this form and request less than five spaces, your reservation will not be honored - you must have a minimum of 5 to reserve.  Please select the game below for which you would like to reserve spots and complete the reservation form.  Your reservation is not confirmed until you receive an email from Campus Ministry verifying that we have space.  Reservations will close at noon the Thursday before the game, unless the lot is sold out before then.  Please DO NOT call after making your reservation online - allow us the time (2-3 business days) to process your request.  We will respond in a timely manner.  We will also update the website if the game is sold out.  Please do not submit multiple entries to the online form.  If you call to check on your reservation, it will slow down the process for everyone.  We have streamlined this process to function mostly online in order to spend more time in direct ministry to our students.  Thank you for your understanding.
You are also agreeing to abide by the rules set forth by the staff at the St. Thomas More Newman Center (see left).  Failure to adhere to the rules could result in being asked to leave without refund and denial of future parking privileges.

*Homecoming Rules
Because homecoming is an entire day of activities and not just the game, we have different rules for this game.  First, reservations for homecoming will open the first day of classes.  Reservations will be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis.  Also, due to the parade and construction affecting the parade line-up, we will mail passes that will allow you entrance to pass the MU Homecoming barricades.  Campus Ministry will communicate exact times and more details (a) once you have a reservation and (b) once the game time and parade time are set.
